Coming from little Willard, WI, I never had any serious debates about politics, but we did discuss presidential candidates individually. Parties didn't matter; we were more concerned with the morals of the individuals. I was shocked when I came to college and met people who said, "I'm a Republican and if you're not, you're a terrorist," or "Democrats care about the people while Republicans are heartless bastards." I wish I could say I am exaggerating, but I'm not. Both parties have something to offer, and I take different sides depending on the issue. Bipartisanship is a fine government, but we need to hear both sides. I especially liked Bayh's comment that if we expect an "all or nothing" political atmosphere, we shouldn't be surprised when we get nothing.Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02030924298248076129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1755746379604080544.post-80078492781038774152010-02-22T12:41:29.976-06:002010-02-22T12:41:29.976-06:00Just a quick note that I've added a link to th...Just a quick note that I've added a link to the piece I mentioned in class this morning: "Why I'm Leaving the Senate" written by Evan Bayh for the NYT Op-Ed page. Right now it's the first item under the "Links of Interest" heading. If I could, I'd add a label to my comment, something like "unproductive polarization". . . . and I don't mean the north or south poles!kate hale wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13465659348306334929noreply@blogger.com
