Just For Fun

I traveled to Stockholm last weekend. As luck would have it, the weather was the worst the city had experienced in decades. Trains and buses ran late, and cars piled up on the highways. The city was almost completely locked down. Undeterred, mailmen on their trusty bicycles forged on. I thought I should take a picture for you guys.

  1. Thank you, Isaac! I'm especially interested in seeing bikes tricked out to do work that you wouldn't typically see done by bike here in the US--so this hard-working postal delivery guy in this case, and in the first batch of photos you sent, the bike that looked like it was set up to do some serious hauling. I think you should consider getting a huge array of photos--then you can do a Clean Commute presentation this fall! Probably not as exciting as this past fall when you and Robyn presented on the CNT '08 experience to the Board of Regents--but I'll bet we can get a good-sized audience (especially if we also serve pizza!) : )

  2. I'm wondering if they have any "covered bikes" there? I saw one when I was in Wales a long time ago - it almost looked like a bubble with wheels...

  3. Andi,

I haven't seen any covered bikes here, yet. People are really good at dressing for the weather, though. So that might have something to do with it. They have a saying here: "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes."
